Antrim Invitational a Huge Hit

Antrim Invitational was to planned to be 3 Wall but the Irish Summer didn’t get the memo so switched to One Wall. Antrim Juveniles hosted players from Armagh, Sligo and Roscommon.

In the Boys divisions Kevin McGrath of Clann Éireann, Armagh showed why he is considered one of the best young talents in one wall handball by winning the Boys 13&u and reaching the finals of the Boys 15&u against NÉ’s Darragh McIlroy. Darragh McIlroy and Cliona McGinley produced powerful textbook displays to win their respective grades. Both set down strong markers ahead of their inclusion in Day 2 Men’s and Ladies tournament. Ferdia and Aodhan from Naomh Éanna showed the results of their recent hard work and excellent progress to capture the B title in 13&u and 15&u respectively. Huge thanks to handball icon @shannonworldfitness for putting in a serious shift of reffing.

Day 2 of the Antrim Invitational and the rain again put an end to the plan of 3 Wall so 1 Wall for the Adults also. Jack Turley and Meadhbh Gallagher claimed the Kill Shot Handball Gloves Men's and Ladies Open titles. Both finals were tight affairs with Jack prevailing 25-22 and Meadhbh edging out a nail biter at 21-20 against Clíodhna McGinley. It was also a good day for Naomh Éanna CLG juveniles with Mia Carlin taking the Ladies B title and Darragh McIlroy being awarded Player of the Tournament. Huge thanks to all who helped out and refereed throughout the weekend.
